In Memoriam

The late Mrs. Daniel McCurdy, whose maiden name was Rose Ann Colgan, was born in Antrim County, Ireland in the year 1836, and came to Canada in 1856. Two years afterward she was married, lived in the township of Hibbert, Perth County, and in 1869 came with her husband to lot 12, con.14, Brant, where they have since lived. Deceased enjoyed good health till 7 years ago when she had a cancer removed from her right side. The operation seemed very successful and she kept in good health till about a year ago, when the old trouble reasserted itself, and all that medical skill could do was unavailing. After enduring intense sufferings uncomplainingly for over twelve months, her soul was mercifully released from its tenement of clay on Sept.14. The deceased was a member of the Episcopalian church and died in the full hope of a glorious resurrection. She was a faithful wife, devoted mother, a kind neighbor and will be mourned by a sorrowing husband, five sons and two daughters, all of whom were present at the time of her departure, also a large circle of friends. The only break in this family before Mrs. McCurdy's death, was her daughter, Mrs. Daniel McCaw of townline Elderslie and Brant, who died about four years ago. A large concourse of friends and relatives accompanied the remains to Vesta cemetery on Sunday afternoon, where in the absence of Rev. J.C. McCracken, incumbent of Holy Trinity Church, the service was conducted by Rev. C.J. Dobson, pastor of Chesley Methodist church. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of many friends.
