Daniel McCurdy emigrated to Canada in 1851. Rosanna Colgan came over in 1856. They were married in 1858. They lived for 13 years in Perth County (Hibbert Twp) and then moved north to Bruce County (Brant Twp) in 1869, settling on Lot 12, Cons 14 of Brant Twp.

In 1861- Daniel and Rosanna lived in Hibbert Twp., Perth Co., with his parents, Archibald and Margaret McCurdy.

In 1864- Daniel and his brother Thomas each owned 50 acres, Lot 23, Con. N.T.R. in south Hibbert Twp., Perth Co.

In 1869- Daniel and Rosanna settled on Lot 12, Con., 14, Brant Twp., Bruce Co., where Daniel died. Daniel had been troubled by Rheumatism for 25 years.

Mr. Daniel McCurdy who passed away on June 2, 1916, was born in the County of Antrim Ireland in 1831 and was therefore 85 years old. He emigrated to Canada in 1849 and was married in 1858 to Miss Rose Ann Colgan who predeceased him by 15 years. They lived for 13 years in the Twp. of Hibbert, Perth County and in 1869 settled on Lot 12, Con. 14, Brant where by thrift and industry they soon were comfortable in circumstances. Deceased had been troubled with rheumatism for 25 years and this painful disease was the cause of his death. He was a member of the Anglican Church and was a much respected citizen of the community in which he lived so long. A family of three sons and a daughter in Brant and a daughter and two sons in Saskatchewan survive him.
